Help Quigley Get Emergency Procedure
Donation protected
Quigley visited the vet on May 7th with symptoms of an unknown illness which was diagnosed at the time as a UTI. After 3 weeks of taking an antibiotic and a supplement for his bladder, his symptoms seemed to go away but eventually returned. On May 29th he returned to the vet. I assumed his infection was resistant to the medication and he might just need another course but we got the worst news. Quigley has at least 2 large kidney stones that have to be removed via surgery. Feline stones don't react to food, medication, or other methods of removal. They also are too large for him to pass on his own. If left alone they will cause an unsurvivable blockage. The vet also discovered 2 rotten, infected teeth that need to be removed. They are not currently life threatening but are causing him pain and can lead to major complications in the future. I received an estimate for just the kidney stone surgery but I desperately don't want to leave him with rotting teeth if he's going to already be getting surgery.
The surgery itself can cost up to $2600 and the 2 visits were funded by a generous family member. They were each $230 and $300 and I would love to be able to pay them back. I will leave them unnamed for now until given permission. All funds raised will go towards the surgery, paying back my family for the visits, and any additional care Quigley might need including the possibility of new dietary needs.
I have no children but my 2 cats. People that know myself and Brian know that these are our kids. Quigley is 14 and I've known him for the last 10 years of his life. I know he has so many years left to live. He's never "acted his age" and gets into mischief all the time. I have been unable to work since 2023 because of all of the complications caused by Long Covid. Brian makes just enough money to make us ineligible for almost every kind of assistance but barely enough to cover our bills. Even if Quigley passes before we can raise enough money for the surgery, I don't know how we'll afford his end of life care without this fundraiser. All we can do for now is keep Quigley comfortable with pain meds and hope for the kindness and generosity of friends and strangers. Thank you for reading our story.
