Help Quest Get Home and Recover After a Medical Emergency in France

If you’re reading this, chances are you know Quest, or someone who loves him. If you know him well, you also know he’d never be the person to ask for help himself. That’s why I’m doing it for him. While he was in Marseille, Quest suddenly developed severe pain in his neck and head with consistent waves of headaches and nausea. After three days he took himself to the emergency as the pain became extreme and after extensive testing and imaging, doctors diagnosed him with a right vertebral artery dissection, a tear in one of the arteries that supplies blood to the brain. Quest was admitted to a neurovascular intensive care unit, where doctors monitored him closely before determining he was stable enough to be discharged. After four days in the hospital he was discharged with a doctors order to avoid any strenuous activity (including surfing), remain in Europe for the time being to allow his brain to heal, and receive continuous treatment from neuron specialists upon his return to New York. He will need ongoing neurological care, repeat vascular imaging, and follow-up with specialists both in France and once he’s safely back home in New York.

Being hospitalized in France along with having to refrain from working has created an enormous financial burden. The proceeds from this gofundme will be applied toward emergency hospital bills, specialist appointments, prescription medications, follow-up imaging, transportation to medical appointments, and expenses for the time he has to remain in France. Once he’s back in the United States, he’ll still need continued care with specialists while also taking time away from work to recover. If you have the ability to donate, we’d greatly appreciate it.
