Help Quest Finish His Rescue Journey

Quest has already lived through more than any one-year-old dog should. Found in the high desert of San Bernardino County California, known for its high-kill shelters and stray crisis, he was surviving on garbage while neighbors began shooting at him and leaving out poison. When he was finally caught, he was taken to the local shelter and immediately placed on the kill list after the hold period. Thanks to the commitment of an adopter in Kansas and local citizens stepping up to foster, Quest got a second chance.

The county did minimal shots but offered a free neuter voucher, so he still needed to get his first rabies vaccine and have a proper health check. When he arrived, he was painfully thin and suffering from a visibly severe worm load. The worms caused diarrhea, nausea, and exhaustion, leaving him with very little endurance even for short walks. The foster paid for a blood panel, rabies vaccination, and heartworm test with her own trusted vet to make sure he was strong enough to undergo neuter surgery without fluids. The vet kindly donated flea and worm medications for two months, and once cleared, Quest was safely neutered at the clinic.

Today, this Great Pyrenees/ Retriever mix is gaining weight, playful, and ready to go home. He’s started to open up and play with the foster’s older dog, gaining confidence and practicing his social skills. Although he is still working on his endurance, it is improving, and he now has the energy to enjoy playtime and short walks while building back his strength.

What’s left is helping him reach his forever home in Kansas. Every donation goes directly to his care and transport. Any extra will be donated to a trusted dog rescue. This is a team of concerned citizens and not a formal rescue, so we appreciate your trust and concern for saving all lives.

Thank you for being part of Quest’s rescue journey. ❤️
