Hello, my name is Alex and I recently broke up with my ex 1 month ago. Since our breakup, she’s become increasingly abusive and manipulative. Unfortunately, we live together in a 1 bedroom apartment with both of our names on the lease. I sleep on the couch with no privacy. We have 2 cats together that I am mostly if not fully responsible for. I do all of the house chores and homemaking despite being the only one that is currently employed, because if I don’t the space would be unlivable. I work 40 hours a week and I have recently found out that my ex lost her job without my knowledge. I have come to find out that my ex is doing hard drugs now, and I don’t feel safe at home. I worry about the well-being of my animals when I’m gone. I can’t stay here any longer for the sake of my mental health; I’ve been suffering from frequent panic attacks and I am constantly on edge. I’ve tried to make this living situation work despite getting the short end of the stick, but I can’t reason with her. My ex owns most of the kitchenware and furniture, your donations would help my cat Gracie and I to break this lease and gain some footing that would allow us to get our own place. The money that I raise will go directly into my deposit to break the lease ($3,500), and the rest will be for necessary kitchen supplies, furniture and the means to start a new lease of my own elsewhere.
