We are a group of queer and transgender people, two of us being transgender women, fleeing Missouri. We are headed to Minnesota. Two of us are teachers, and the other is in-between jobs. Currently Missouri is extremely dangerous for transgender individuals; we're looking at healthcare bans and restrictions, bans on updating our paperwork/legal identities, extreme bigotry from some of the population, and overall legislation and a government looking to get rid of people like us. Education restrictions, "don't say gay" type bills, and legislation that would blacklist us from our careers are being introduced here at an unprecedented rate. It very simply is not safe here for us, especially as queer and transgender educators: we're afraid we won't be allowed to teach at all anymore if we don't get out now. Please help us flee to a safer place.
In addition to our own savings, the money raised here will help us cover the cost of a moving truck, gas, and apartment hunting fees as we make our move from Missouri to Minnesota. Recent dental and medical bills have made it hard for us to save, making fundraising a necessity for us to move safely and securely. Any money earned past the goal will help us to repay any loans or debt related to the move, or will be paid forward to other transgender individuals fundraising for similar situations.
Any amount helps us, no matter how small. If you cannot donate, please consider sharing! We greatly appreciate any help. Thank you.
5/27/25 Update: Unfortunately, a member of our group is dealing with surgery complications that we discovered early this week, and will likely be out of work for the foreseeable future. We have updated our goal from $2000 to $4000 reflect this. More details on this update can be found in the "update" section, however to have full transparency we wanted to post this in the main fundraiser description as well. We also want to thank you all SO MUCH for your support, moving across the country is terrifying and your support has helped ease our nerves and give us the security we desperately needed. Thank you, and we hope we'll have a positive update for everyone in July <3
