Help Qossay and His Family Survive & Find Safety

"Hi, my name is Suha, Qossay Alkafarna's mother, originally from Beit Hanoun, Gaza and now forcibly displaced and reporting from Rafah, Gaza. When Qossay was 5 years old, he was one of about 40 kids sponsored by the PCRF to seek treatment overseas and he and I were hosted by the PCRF Delaware Chapter in 2017 where we met Dounya, who is organizing this GoFundMe on our entire family's behalf. Qossay was born with a urological bladder complex and needed a specialized surgery which was not available in Gaza, so he was blessed to be chosen by the PCRF to get treatment in the United States, in Delaware to be exact, where Qossay had undergone multiple surgeries to treat this condition, including corrective surgery for both his hip and bladder. Nemour's Hospital in Delaware treated Qossay, and we were hosted by Ronald McDonald House and cared for by the PCRF Delaware chapter so warmly during this time. We made it back to Gaza in January 2018 and Qossay was undergoing his physical therapy. We are grateful to all who helped us along the way. Fast forward, 6-7 years later, Qossay just turned 13 years old, is enduring his own genocide and suffering tremendously to the point of almost reaching kidney failure along my other children and the entire family, those who survived up until this point.

We have 16 members of my family currently with us including myself:
Saad Abdullah Al-Kafarneh, father-in-law
Aida Ali Al-Kafarna, mother of the husband
Fathia Abdullah Al-Kafarna, mother of the wife
Muhammad Saad Al-Kafarna, head of the family
Suha Muhammad Al-Kafarna, wife
Shahad Muhammad Al-Kafarna, 19 years old
Shatha Muhammad Al-Kafarneh, 17 years old
Iyad Muhammad Al-Kafarneh, 16 years old
Qusay Muhammad Al-Kafarneh, 13 years old
Sama Muhammad Al-Kafarna, 9 years old
Musk Muhammad Al-Kafarna, 5 years old
Mahmoud Saad Al-Kafarna, brother-in-law, 35 years old
Iman Bassam Al-Kafarna, wife of the husband’s brother, 29 years old
Siraj Mahmoud Al-Kafarna, the husband’s nephew, 7 years old
Twins Carmel and Rital, nieces, 2 years old

We live in Rafah in a tent inside a government school. We were displaced from Beit Hanoun to Jabalia camp inside an UNRWA school after the Zionist army bombed all our homes and destroyed all the roads and schools. We were displaced and then to the city of Rafah to an UNRWA school. We lived there for about a month, during which we suffered a lot of crowding, transporting water, lack of food, and entering the bathroom with great suffering and queues of people.

Diseases have spread among people, including hepatitis, gastroenteritis, severe influenza, and kidney infection.

Then we moved to another school after suffering greatly due to overcrowding in the schools. We remained in a tent, suffering from severe cold, pneumonia, and intestinal infections for my children. I was admitted to the hospital to receive intravenous treatment for my children. My son Qossay also suffered from kidney inflammation and kidney atrophy due to drinking the contaminated water that my children brought from a place far away, about an hour's walk away.

Then I moved to another school after a continuous search for all schools, kindergartens and hospitals until I found a shared tent inside a school with two displaced families.

I cannot begin to tell you, we suffer from very high prices, and there is no flour, sugar, rice, or any kind of basic needs for children either. We bought a bag of flour for 500 shekels, rice for 40 shekels per kilo, vegetables are expensive, and candy is also expensive. My children cry and ask for chips, Indomie, chocolate, and sweets, but we cannot buy them because of their high price.

We suffer from a difficult psychological state, depression, frustration, lack of sleep, anxiety, fear of bombing, loss of appetite, as we lost half our weight from lack of food, and stomach problems from psychological pressure.

My children also suffered from involuntary urination due to the intense fear of bombing, the sound of artillery and F-16 missiles, and the bombing of schools, mosques, homes, universities, and markets.

We lost over 300 relatives in this genocide and the Zionist army left their children to be orphans.

We need treatment for blood pressure, diabetes, psychological treatment, kidney treatment, and many other treatments.

Our most important request is to end this war, prevent any more of this racist genocide, have compassion for our situation and the condition of our children, women and elderly, help us build our homes, return our children to schools and universities, and provide us with food and treatment. We are all in need of the funds to survive and seek safety elsewhere as we had lost everything. Our homes have been flattened and reduced to rubble.

Will you help fund my family's safety and security and cover our needs? Your support during this time is urgent and we are beyond appreciative of all of your efforts for our family. We will never forget you and what you have done to help us while we faced our genocide. Jazakum Allah Khair and Ramadan Mubarak."

*My name is Dounya Ramadan and I am raising funds on behalf of Qossay's family who is now located in Rafah, Gaza within Madrasa (School) AlShuhaa Rafah near Duar al Awda Rafah (Hiking area). I will be sending funds through Western Union. There is a money exchange shop in Rafah where Mohammed Alkafarna (Qossay's father) will be able to pick up the funds. I had sent them funds before making this GoFundMe as a trial run, and they were successfully received by Qossay's family through this method. I will be sure to post all updates here.*
