I have a passion for delicious food, health, and wellness. I believe that wellness can be achieved through proper nutrition and it’s easier to achieve when the food tastes great! I've always enjoyed cooking and transforming “unhealthy” dishes into “healthier” dishes. Healthy meal hacks are my thing! My business was birthed out of the desire to create a healthy hack for traditional ground beef tacos. I created The Walnut Tree, LLC., where my love for delicious food, innovation, and my passion for wellness merge. The mission of The Walnut Tree is to revolutionize healthy eating. We believe that health comes first. We also believe that you don't have to sacrifice good taste for health.
The Walnut Tree creates organic, vegan, non-GMO, nut meat made out of clean and simple ingredients: walnuts, veggies, herbs, and spices. I will launch a line of walnut meat in three flavors: Tex-Mex, Italian, and Original to be used in tacos, burritos, lasagna, chili, pasta, meat sauces, Ethiopian, Thai dishes, and however you see fit. My nut meat flavors can be used in many of the same ways you would use ground meat.
I created this healthy meat alternative during the pandemic in July 2020 when thoughts of health and immunity were looming all over. My walnut meat is made with immune-supporting, nutrient-dense walnuts. Walnuts are the healthiest nut available. Walnuts are also a great brain food and high in antioxidants, omega-3s, Vitamin E, and B9. They've beat out other nuts in vitro in suppressing cancer cell growth. They can aid in depression, anxiety, heart disease, Auto-Immune Disease, Alzheimer's, ADHD, and Asthma. They encourage the production of serotonin, a feel-good hormone. This makes my walnut meat both healthy and delicious!
In August 2020, my business was selected out of many applicants to be a part of the Union Kitchen Accelerator program, a business accelerator here in Washington, DC, that launched brands like Snacklins, Compass Coffee, Veggie Confetti, Revol Snax, 8 Myles, Tasty6, MasPanadas, and others. The Walnut Tree operates in Washington DC and will be sold primarily in health food stores locally and to larger grocery stores in the future. I plan to expand my business to sell other walnut-based products as well.
I started this gofundme account to raise money to bring my walnut meat to market so that consumers will have a healthy, delicious, and nutrient-rich meat alternative during a time when health is of the utmost importance. How many of us get the daily recommended serving of nuts and ALAs a day? My nut meat will make that a lot easier for consumers! Consumers are becoming more conscientious about their health and where their food comes from. They're making better decisions about what they eat, beyond calories and fat. They want health benefits and great taste from their foods as we can see with the rise of veganism, plant-based, and ketogenic diets. I would like to pay for commercial kitchen space, purchase additional equipment for processing my plant-based meat, as well as, ingredients, nutritional analysis, food photography, and marketing to get my nut meat onto shelves and into consumers' kitchens as soon as possible!
Your support means everything to me because I want to create something that consumers need, want, and will find useful for many years to come. I am very grateful for all of my contributors and hope that my nut meat will be a staple in your homes.
