Help Q Rebuild After Ellis Act Eviction
Donation protected
Dear friends, family, and kind-hearted souls,
I hope this message finds you well. As some of you may know, I recently underwent a challenging and emotionally draining experience - an Ellis Act eviction that turned into a nightmarish ordeal. I find myself in a difficult situation and am reaching out to you for support in rebuilding my life.
The Ellis Act, a state law allowing landlords to evict tenants under the guise of going out of business, forced me to leave my home. What began as a legal process turned hostile, abusive, and emotionally damaging. Despite legal representation, the opposing counsel's relentless tactics left me in a precarious position.
While I secured the first half of the much reduced relocation fee, a judgment was entered against me, creating a dilemma. I can either obtain the remaining relocation money and face potential legal consequences or walk away, avoiding fees but leaving me in a financial hole.
Walking away means I am burdened with the costs of moving, including movers, supplies, down payments, and utilities. Additionally, my trusty freezer, a lifeline for groceries and meal prep, unexpectedly malfunctioned, resulting in the loss of $300+ worth of food. The cumulative impact has left me in need of fiscal support.
I understand times are tough for everyone, but I am reaching out to those who have experienced my hospitality - whether it's providing a place to crash during your travels or picking you up from the airport. Your support, no matter the amount, will help me navigate this challenging chapter.
I am seeking to raise $6,000 to cover moving expenses, unforeseen costs, and the financial hit from the freezer incident. Your generosity will make a significant difference in my ability to overcome this hardship and start anew.
If you are unable to contribute financially, your kind words and sharing this are equally appreciated. I am grateful for any support you can offer during this difficult time.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for being a source of strength and compassion.
With gratitude,
~Q

I wrote this months ago before my computer died on me a couple of weeks ago and before I lost my phone this weekend after Dore Alley. Yes, I know, this has all the makings of a country song.
