Thank you to everyone who has been on the Maxwell Prayer team. For those of you who do not know, I want to take a few minutes to let everyone know where we are and what is going on. About two weeks ago I received a cancer diagnosis, I had discovered a lump on the side of my neck. They did confirm that cancer was in the lymph node on my neck. The cancer was found to have originated at the base of my tongue. Last Friday, we went to St Vincent's Hospital for surgery to remove the cells from my tongue and lymph nodes. However, due to the location and the actual size of my mouth they were unable to perform the robotic surgery on my tongue. They did remove all of the lymph nodes and were able to biopsy the spot on the tongue. They have performed a full body scan and these are the only cancerous spots in my body. They will set up a radiation and potential chemo schedule to eradicate the spot left on the tongue. We appreciate all of the kind words, prayers, meals, and support from friends and family that have been pouring in. We will keep pushing through this and fight on!
What you don't know, is that one week before his cancer diagnosis, Brad and Melissa purchased plane tickets to China for spring break to visit their oldest daughter and son-in-law while they are traveling Asia. They planned to set up accomodations through airbnb.com. You can read more about the Jebson Jaunt here: https://thejebsonjaunt.wordpress.com/
Brad has some sleep apnea issues that need dealt with. Radiation is terrible on your bones. His current mouth situation is not great and he will have to have major dentistry work. They may decide to pull all of teeth and get dentures to avoid infection and possible loss of jaw bones. The expense in the dental work alone, will be tremendous.
Brad will be undergoing chemo and radiation treatment daily for 8 weeks. The Maxwell's do have insurance but they still have to pay 20% of their medical bills after their deductible. Their dental insurance only covers just less than a couple of thousand dollars.
Any help will be appreciated for this remarkable family that has given back selfessly to their friends, family and community for years.
They plan to use all the funds for Brad's cancer care and if there is any leftover, it will be paid forward.....
