Hello everyone, my name is Kevin Rhodes and Joshua J. Serrano was my partner for seven years. It is with a heavy and sad heart that I must share the news that our beloved Joshua “Joshie” passed away on Saturday evening. On Dec. 28th, Josh complained of chest pains and went to the hospital where he was admitted to ICU. We discovered his organs were shutting down and his vitals were very off. So he was in ICU until the medical staff and the hospital got his numbers stabilized. He was moved to a regular room where they monitored him until Jan. 10th when he was released and came home.

We went to a movie and saw “Wonka” and sat on the sofa watching Mariah Carey videos but was still in pain and unable to get proper rest. On Friday, he was not able to lift himself out of bed and go to the bathroom, so I stood by him to help. On Saturday, I wanted to call 911 but Joshie did not want that. He wanted to stay home and just be with me and our dog, Sandy. But he said that if he did not feel any better by Sunday afternoon that I could call 911. At 5:00pm, I gave him his meds and he tried to rest. He was talking in his sleep and his voice was very garbled. So I sat next to him and held his hand. I was so tired that I drifted off and when I woke up he was silent. I called 911, did CPR, and when they arrived they confirmed he had passed.

We had so many things to do still together and now I am empty. I hope you will honor him with a donation to cover his final expenses and thank you for your kindness. His final wishes were to be cremated and that is what I am trying to do.
