Help Puppy Maxim Overcome Wobblers Disease,Future Paralysis
Donation protected
Hi! My name is Maxim and I am a 9 month old Boerboel (South African Mastiff for any non Dog nerds out there), and I really could use your help. When my dad Rasha got me at six months I was running around like a regular puppy, a little goofy and like a drunk old man, you know the way puppies usually do. Then I started wiping out on my walks a little too frequently, so he took me to the vet, who then referred me to a neurologist who diagnosed me with “WOBBLERS”… if left untreated I will become paralyzed within 1 – 5 years….What on earth is “WOBBLERS”? A more fancy name for it is: Cervical Spondylomyelopathy (CSM), and it’s a painful and debilitating neurologic disease that affects the spine in the neck or cervical region. It is a common condition in large and giant breed dogs, particularly Doberman Pinschers, Great Danes, Mastiffs, and Rottweilers.
Doc says I would need surgery and unfortunately I can’t pay them in licks or dog biscuits…so this is where I come to you with tail wagging and puppy eyes. For now the amount we are trying to get is for the MRI's, (which has been estimated by my vet, kindly see additional vet reports) to figure out just how much the surgery would cost. If you have any amount at all to donate, my Hooman Dad and I will be eternally grateful. It’s an expensive surgery and we need all the help we can get.
Message from my Hooman Dad Rasha: “I was devastated when I had to put my previous dog Tigran to sleep, he was my entire life. As I deal with depression and anxiety my dogs have literally saved my life. After Tigran died I was suffering so much and it was not until I took the steps to get a new puppy that my life started to feel hopeful again. Once I got Maxim I did a 180 and was just so happy! Maxim is just the sweetest boy. A gentle giant who loves playing but with the severe pain he is feeling right now is having a hard time doing that. I can only take him on very short potty breaks now because walking causes him so much pain. He needs this surgery so he can play and walk without pain and to live. I can’t express enough how grateful I am to those who donate.
