Help Punjabi farmer regain his eyesight
Donation protected
My Uncle is a farmer in Punjab, unfortunately due to the lack of land he has to grow crops to make an income, his family barely makes ends means. My uncle also has diabetes, unfortunately around a month ago he did not use enough insulin in attempt to make his supply last longer to be able to buy other necessities for his family (food). Due to this he suffered hyperglycemia (high blood sugar) and lost vision in his eyes. Doctors have said that this is something that can be treated with a surgery, however it will cost 2 Lakh($100,000 rupees) which is roughly $3500 Canadian dollars per eye. This cost is JUST for the surgery and does not include the hospital bed, the medication, and any expenses that come with being in a hospital. So all together one eye plus the other hospital expenses would be $5000 Canadian. Under different circumstances (not being in a pandemic) my family would have been able to all come together and help pay, but unfortunately due to lack of demand during covid they have been laid off by their companies. In total we would ideally be hoping to get as close to $10,000 ($5000 per eye) as we can, but as of now we are aiming for $5000 . Also due to high blood sugar he is having swelling and issues with his liver which is highly alarming but my family has taken care of most of the expenses for the medication to help the liver. Anything helps, in all honesty he is currently under the belief that this will be his last winter and we are scared he might be right. This is very urgent as the sooner we get the surgery for his eyes the more likely he will get his vision back, be able to recover, and then provide for his family. My uncle is the only provider for the family and his son is only 15-16 and is not at the age to be able to take over for his family, his son is trying to make money by working odd jobs to help support his family but it is no where near what they need to survive.
Here i will list what the donations will go towards(<$5000):
- Eye surgery
- hospital bed/room
- nurses
- medication taken BEFORE surgery
- medication used DURING surgery
- medication taken AFTER surgery
If the goal is met and we exceed the goal(<$10,000):
- Eye surgery for BOTH eyes
- hospital bed/room
- nurses
- medication taken BEFORE surgery
- medication used DURING surgery
- medication taken AFTER surgery
And if we are left with anything extra after all the surgical expenses:
- Insulin
- any other medication that he is going to be needing for either is eyes, liver, or high blood sugar.
I will continue to post updates to keep it completely transparent as to where the donation is going, updates on his health and so forth. If anyone has any questions i would be more then happy to answer so please feel free to contact me. :)
