Meet Pumpkin!
He is not only our beloved pet, but also our 501C3 Special Needs Rescue mascot, and has been foster daddy to so many animals in need. He has given SO much care and attention to so many special fosters over the years and the least we can do to repay his unending love is to provide him with all the treatment options available for his disease.
Pumpkin, at just 7 years old, was diagnosed last month with cancer. Small cell lymphoma. This is a treatable, but not curable cancer. His oncologist has said that with treatment we can hope to get about 2-4 more good years with him, with 2 being the most common. Without treatment he would likely only be comfortable for another 6 months. We would like your help so that we can provide him with all treatments that would give him the most, and highest quality time he has remaining. (Pumpkin was determined ineligible for pet insurance due to "pre-existing conditions" from early illnesses and disease.)
The oncologist estimate for cancer treatment is about $10,000 a year. That amount covers the basics, including $2,900 for minimum of 4 ultrasounds, $6,000 in monthly oncology appointments, blood tests, and a few X-rays, and about $1,100 in chemotherapy drugs.
We are trying to raise as much as we can so that we can treat him for the remainder of his wonderful life. While the average time achieved with treatment seems to be about 2 years, we work miracles every day here and hope the universe will shine it's gratitude down on him for all the love he has given other animals. All money raised will be placed in an account solely for Pumpkin's cancer medical bills. Any funds left over at his passing will be transferred to the 501c3 rescue that he started, in his honor. Pumpkin Patch Pet Rescue.
