Hi, I'm Joellen and I have LADA diabetes. (Kind of like type 1 but with a later onset.) I have been so blessed to be able to manage my blood sugar with an insulin pump. It's improved my numbers dramatically. But my current pump is out of warranty and has been recalled. I have insurance, but a new pump will still run me around $3500 out-of-pocket to get started. I can handle the monthly supply bill, but I'm having trouble coming up with the initial investment.
It's hard to describe how much a pump has improved my quality of life. I'm free of insulin injections, and I'm able to keep my numbers so much steadier, which helps prevent complications from worsening. I have extra incentive to stay healthy with the birth of my first grandchild in January--I want to see her grow up! I make paper crafts, and I'll send you a handmade thank you plus an additional card for a friend! Even a little bit of help would be meaningful to me. Thank you so much for reading my story.
