Pugsley is a 3-year-old foster dog who has already endured more than most pups his age. When he arrived at the shelter in early October, he was so terrified that he was labeled L3 shy/fearful — he couldn’t even walk because he was frozen with fear and pain.
I decided to foster Pugsley because he was not progressing at the shelter and would likely end up on the urgent list. Once he settled into foster care, we discovered why he was having problems walking. Pugsley had a previously dislocated front elbow that was never treated, leaving the elbow outside of the socket. Today, he walks with a limp, and the vet confirmed he is living with daily pain even though he does his best to hide it.
The shelter offered to amputate the leg for free, but because Pugsley is still so young, I wanted to explore all possible options for saving his limb. A second veterinarian evaluated him and recommended an open reduction surgery, where they surgically put the elbow joint back in place and splint it so it can finally heal the right way. This surgery is the only chance Pugsley has to keep his leg. As a foster, I’m not able to cover this cost on my own, but Pugsley is worth fighting for.
In foster care, he has already blossomed. He loves his foster brothers, Cairo and Hoku, and watching him learn that humans can be safe and gentle has been incredibly special. He deserves the chance to continue healing — both physically and emotionally — so he can find a forever home where he feels loved and secure.
We need to raise the funds as soon as possible. The longer his leg stays in its current condition, the less likely the surgery is to be successful. Time truly matters for Pugsley. As a foster, I’m not able to cover this cost on my own. But Pugsley is worth fighting for- please help.
✨ Every donation, no matter the size, brings him closer to a pain-free life and the chance to run, play, and trust again.
✨ If you can’t donate, sharing this fundraiser means the world.
Thank you for helping give Pugsley the future he deserves — one where he can finally move without pain and learn what a real, loving life feels like.
