I Am Ethereal

For as long as I can remember, poetry has been my way of bringing a little more magic into the world. Unlike collecting paintings or sculptures, poetry is an art form that anyone can enjoy—one that can add meaning and beauty to any space. Over the years, I’ve written bespoke poems for patrons on topics close to their hearts, and I’m proud to say my words have helped brighten a few lives and pay a few bills along the way.

Now, I’ve reached a milestone: I’ve finally written enough to publish my first book of poetry. This is a dream I’ve carried for years, and I’m excited to share my work with a wider audience. But self-publishing comes with its own set of challenges. I need to cover the cost of a professional editor, binding the book, and postage to send copies to independent bookstores so my poetry can find its way onto shelves and into the hands of readers who need a little hope and magic.

If you believed there is no magic left, what would THAT world be like?

I mean ok, not bad, really just fine, all-in-all alright.

But “alright” is not what we're going for, those of us in-the-know.

We want a world of glorious, brilliant dreams; so magic's the way to go.

It's there, I assure you, without doubt, you can take it from me.

People don't know to look for it now, they've forgotten how to see.

They've forgotten the way of the magic spell, of the old gods and the new.

But, you and I remember well and know just what to do.

Only a broken heart can know love, and only with pain can one heal;

The cost of magic is simple you see, you must be willing to truly feel.

That price is paid by the bravest alone,

Those willing to get lost will find their way home.

With a strong a heart and mighty soul we can do more than just cope.

We call up the magic, of course you know how, all magic is born of hope.
