Help Publish Arizona Bird Committee's Report
Donation protected
Every few years the Arizona Bird Committee produces a report on their decisions regarding the evaluation of reports of review species submitted to the committee. This year Gary Rosenberg and Andrew Core have written the report covering records in Arizona from 2021 through 2023. It is the eleventh ABC report since the formation of the committee in 1972. We always publish the report in Western Birds, the journal of the Western Field Ornithologists. While the WFO subsidizes most of the cost of producing the journal, the organization has always asked authors of papers to contribute to the publication of page costs - and for this paper they are asking for $750. I hope you feel, as we do, that this is a very worthwhile endeavor, adding to our growing knowledge of Arizona birds. We very much appreciate any contribution you can make, small or large, helping cover the cost of publication of this important work. Thank you very much. Gary Rosenberg and Andrew Core.
The Abstract for our report is as follows:
From 2021 through 2023 the Arizona Bird Committee reviewed 403 reports (several individual records comprise multiple reports) and updated the Arizona bird list through 2023, adding five species—the White-tipped Dove (Leptotila verreauxi), American Woodcock (Scolopax minor), Ringed Kingfisher (Megaceryle torquata—inadvertently left out of the last report), Orange-billed Nightingale-Thrush (Catharus aurantiirostris), and Blue-black Grassquit (Volatinia jacarina)—bringing the Arizona state list to 570 species in good standing.
