Help Provide Surgery for Luna, a Loving Companion

Donation protected
What do you do when your best friend and companion, and the reason you get out of bed every day needs to see a doctor and there's no money?

I know this is not a unique situation these days, but in this case the doctor is a Veterinarian, and my best friend is Luna. A smart, gorgeous, friendly, loving, almost 5-year-old Siberian Husky, and she needs surgery.

She has two lumps, one which started over a year ago, but was soft and movable, and I was told "Don't worry, it's probably just a fatty tumor or a cyst." The first one then got larger and is now hard and doesn't move. A new lump showed and started out hard and keeps getting bigger. The Vet says they must be removed and sent to Pathology to confirm it's not cancer.

Luna goes everywhere with me as she's my service dog due to an accident which left me with a traumatic brain injury, daily headaches and 2-3 migraines per week. She recognizes what is going on with me, and stays close by, or goes outside for a little fresh air, then comes back and checks on me again.

When we're out, one of her favorite places to stop at is Trader Joe's. Employees who recognize me because I shop there often, might not know my name, but they know Luna is out in the truck and they take a couple minutes to go out and give her some loving!

Costco is another favorite of hers. Once I was able to drive after 2 recent knee surgeries, one Sept 2022 and the other Dec 2023, I always utilize one of the riding carts, and Luna goes in with me in her service vest. It's actually been my best form of interaction with people because they see Luna, in her service vest, but they beg to pet her. How can I refuse? Luna loves it as do the people we meet.

I've been through 4 different surgeries in the last 2-1/2 years and still have not recovered completely. It's OK, not that I enjoy surgeries, but I understand what's going on. Luna is not supposed to undergo any surgeries. It's our job to look after each other. I make sure she has food and water, and gets exercised and brushed every day no matter how I feel. The last thing I want is for her to undergo surgery, and then be in any pain, but it needs to be done. Hopefully the tumors will be benign, and we'll both heal quickly after!

I know, probably better than most, times are tough. I really hope you can find it in your heart (and your wallet!) to contribute anything you're comfortable giving. $1, $5, $20, or more or less. Every dollar will help pay for her surgery, cure and continuing care. No guilt if you just don't have the money to spare. I get that.

Thanks in advance for your help, and I would greatly appreciate it if you would forward this on to your friends! God bless and we're both wishing you all the best.
