I am asking for support for my dear friend of 20 years, Mary Wigfall. Back in January, she had plans to return to her native home of Kenya to spend her retirement years with her extended family. Unfortunately, on January 7, 2025, she suffered a serious stroke that has left her paralyzed on one side and confined to a hospital bed. It's Mary's wish to still return to Kenya, where she can be surrounded by the care of family and where 24/7 nursing care is more affordable. Her son in the US and her children in Kenya are working tirelessly to set up a home in Nairobi where they can care for her with the help of skilled nurses, but this initial setup is very expensive. They have already raised funds among her extensive friend network for the very expensive plane ride, but they don't yet have enough to set up all she will need for 24/7 care. Her family is hoping she can be in Kenya by October. I am asking for help in raising $4,000 to help with these setup expenses. Mary is one of the most generous, faith-led, optimistic, resilient, and hardest-working people I have ever known. Even after losing her sight over 10 years ago, she's worked not only to support herself but to help her family back in Kenya. She deserves to spend the rest of her years surrounded by love and care.
