Hi Everyone,
I'm Grecia. My mom, Delmy, was recently diagnosed with stage 2 breast cancer, which has been extremely difficult for our family, emotionally and financially.
Growing up, my mom was always there for me. She taught me to be resilient, strong, and hard-working. She has inspired me to never give up and to work hard for what I want in life. Now, it's my turn to be strong and be there for her in this journey.
My family lives in Honduras. My mom has no medical insurance. I'm a college student in the US, and I don't have the funds to pay for her treatment. The costs of treatment, doctor's appointments, and time off work are unsustainable for my family. My goal with this fundraiser is to help my family pay for my mom's treatment so that she can get the treatment she needs and focus on healing. Every donation, big or small, will go directly toward her care and recovery.
We are incredibly grateful for your support, whether it's financial, emotional, or sharing this with others. Thank you so much!
With all our love and gratitude,
Grecia, and family.
The $5,000 goal for this fundraiser would go towards:
- Chemotherapy treatments: Even with the help from a local aid organization, Delmy's chemo treatments will each cost 11,655 lempiras out of pocket. This comes to about $450 per cycle. Her doctor currently anticipates 8 cycles of chemo, for a total of $3,600.
- Doctor's appointments and other medication: Delmy will require ongoing doctor's appointments to monitor the healing from her double mastectomy performed earlier this month and her continuing treatment. Her doctor also anticipates she will require other medications to cope with some of the side effects of chemo, as well as testing to monitor her progress. These anticipated costs come to about $600.
- Any remaining funds would go towards unanticipated medical expenses, such as additional rounds of chemo, medications, or testing. The funds would also help ensure the family has resources during this extremely difficult time.
