Hello! My name is Makana and I am an English teaching assistant at a K-12 school in East Jerusalem, Palestine. This semester, we are introducing novels into our curriculum for students in the 6th, 7th, 8th, and 9th grade classes. I'll bet you've read some of these yourself: Hatchet by Gary Paulsen, Holes by Louis Sachar, The Giver by Lois Lowry, and To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee.

I'm really excited to introduce these novels, which certainly played a large part in my own journey as a reader, to these students. If possible, we would love to make these novels as financially accessible to the students as we can. Our goal is that no student in the school will have to pay for their book this semester.
