This Ramadan, join us in supporting Tadaamun ('solidarity' in Arabic), a Sudanese grassroots organization based in the state of Sennar, in their mission to provide critical food and clothing aid to individuals and families experiencing economic hardship. Donations will be used to purchase and distribute clothing and food baskets of essential pantry items. With your kind support, we can illustrate the strength of community cooperation and empower families in need as they strive to regain stability and security in their daily lives amidst the ongoing war.

April 15th, 2026 will mark three years since the outbreak of the ongoing counterrevolutionary proxy war in Sudan. The conflict, unfolding largely outside of the global community's scope of attention and regard, has resulted in the deaths of nearly 400,000 people; the forced displacement of millions fleeing indiscriminate violence at the hands of warring militias; the destruction of social and civil infrastructure; and the tearing apart of families and communities across the nation. Additionally, unstable economic conditions have spelled the theft and loss of lifetime savings, property, and dependable sources of income for most, making it extremely difficult for civilians to secure the means to provide for themselves and their families and live a life in dignity and security. Thus, as the war wages on, the Sudanese people are forced to bear the brunt of its most devastating effects on the very fabric of their daily lives.

As members of the Sudanese diaspora whose family members and loved ones are largely still in Sudan and have been directly impacted by the war, we feel it is our duty to give back to the communities to which we can trace back our roots and which inevitably played a role in shaping who we are today. We would love for you to help us in supporting an organization with a mission that is near and dear to our hearts; in so doing, we can help alleviate acute food and financial insecurity faced by families as they try to regain a sense of agency in their lives during a war that they had no choice in enduring.

Established in 2023, the idea for Tadaamun was sparked after a group of youth noticed a need for a platform to spearhead public forums and projects addressing relevant issues facing their local village, seeking to empower community members to give voice to their experiences and opinions against the backdrop of the newly unfolding conflict. Over time, Tadaamun’s operations expanded as members began organizing charitable food aid and clothing distribution drives, focusing particular attention on directly addressing the immediate material needs of the most vulnerable in their society (including the economically disadvantaged, orphans, the elderly, and people living with disabilities). Years of experience, along with a deep and sincere commitment to service, have established Tadaamun as a trusted cornerstone of their village community, demonstrating the critical role of grassroots initiatives as societies across Sudan work to rebuild amidst the volatility of war. 

Through this campaign, we hope to collect funds to support Tadaamun in the distribution of food baskets and clothing coinciding with the end of Ramadan and the Eid al-Fitr holiday. Food baskets will consist of essential pantry items, including sugar, lentils and grains, oil, rice, and dates; and one basket costs the equivalent of approximately 30 USD. We have direct contact with a founding member of the organization to whom funds will be sent and who will be in charge of distributional logistics and operations. We will also be sharing regular updates throughout the campaign on our social media platforms.
