Help provide Emily with a suitable wheelchair
Donation protected
Hello friends and family! I am one of Emily's many close friends and I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for taking the time to read a little piece of Emily's story and for considering donating to our cause. Those of you that are privileged to know Emily know how special she truly is. She has a zeal for living every moment in the present and is the last person you will ever hear complain.
Emily was diagnosed with Gorham-Stout Disease, also known as "vanishing bone disease", at the young age of 18 years old after suffering from hip pain, fatigue, and walking with a limp for 2 years. The illness has specifically affected Emily's hips and pelvic area. Due to the rarity of the disease and shortage of doctors who are experts in the field, Emily's journey has been nothing short of heroic. Emily had an experimental hip replacement in June of 2019 but it ended up exacerbating the disease and causing more chronic pain.
She has had to use different walking aids for the past 4.5 years and is now trying to transition to using a wheelchair full-time due to disease progression.
I am praying that God will use this situation for His glory by bringing the community together in love to cover at least a portion of the cost of a comfortable and reliable wheelchair for Emily. Emily has exhausted every resource and unfortunately the medical supply stores that make custom wheelchairs do not take insurance.
Thank you so much in advance for your generosity, no matter the size of your donation. If you are unable to give financially, it would mean so much if you could keep Emily in your prayers.
