Help provide Computers for Ashoka School in Memory of Ramesh

Story
We are raising funds to provide new computers for Ashoka School (Boys) Sirhind Mandi, and MG Ashoka Girls Senior Secondary School in Punjab, both in India.

Both schools serve children from extremely deprived backgrounds. Many of the students come from families who struggle to afford even basic educational items, and the schools receive very limited government funding. Much of the progress over the years has been made possible only through donations and community support.

The Gajri family has had a close connection with these schools for decades. Over the past ten years, the family has regularly donated books, bicycles, glasses, clothes, and funds for student sponsorships, ensuring that children in need can continue their education with dignity and hope.

This initiative aims to build proper computer rooms for both schools, giving students access to essential digital learning. Our goal is to provide 30 computers in total, 15 for the boys’ school and 15 for the girls’ school, so pupils can gain vital computer skills and access opportunities that would otherwise be out of reach.

In Memory of Ramesh Kumar Gajri
Ramesh attended Ashoka School (Boys), Sirhind Mandi, where in 1966 he was awarded Best Student in 10th Grade and in 1967 he received Best Student in 11th Grade, his name remains proudly displayed on the school’s honours board. He later studied accountancy before moving to the UK alone, where he faced many challenges adapting to a new culture and enduring racism and hardship.

Through perseverance and determination, Ramesh built a successful career as a chartered accountant and a good life for his family. He was a man known for his integrity, warmth, and generosity, and he consistently used his success to support his siblings and his wider family.

Together with his brothers Naresh and Jagjiwan, who also attended Ashoka School (Boys), and his sister Vijay, who studied at MG Ashoka Girls Senior Secondary School, they all shared a lifelong connection to their roots. The siblings have continued to give back to their old schools for many years, helping to fund essential resources and improvements.

This fundraiser represents the continuation of their shared dream, to give future generations the same chance at education that they once received. It also stands as a tribute to Ramesh’s lifelong values of education, resilience, and compassion.

Rather than flowers or gifts, the family invites those who wish to honour Ramesh’s memory to contribute towards this meaningful project.

We will share regular updates and photos as the project progresses to ensure full transparency. Thank you for helping us honour Ramesh’s legacy and for supporting the next generation of Ashoka students.
