Help Provide Cancer Treatment for Marty Walker
Thank you for taking a moment to get to know a little about Marty and the battle she is fighting.
On July 7th, 2020, Marty went to the doctor because of some pain and discomfort in her abdomen. After some tests and exams, she was told that she had pancreatic cancer. Knowing that pancreatic cancer is one of the most ruthless types of cancer, Marty quickly began seeking treatment options. She became a patient at Northside Hospital in Atlanta and they soon began chemotherapy with the hope of slowing or stopping the cancer enough to perform an operation and remove the cancerous portion of her pancreas. The chemotherapy was unsuccessful, as the cancer spread and made the surgical procedure unlikely. After several more rounds of aggressive chemo and treatment at Northside, Marty's quality of life diminished. She began to seek a more thorough assessment of her condition and treatment options. This led her to the wonderful people at Cancer Treatment Centers of America in Newnan, Ga. They continued treatment and chemotherapy, but with a much more focused and personalized treatment regimen and medicines. Unfortunately, this was to no avail as the cancer continued to adapt to the treatment and spread.
The chemo has taken a huge toll on Marty's quality of life without showing any benefit in helping slow the cancer. After meeting with her doctors in June of this year (2021), she made the decision to stop the chemo treatment since it was not showing significant results against the cancer. She is currently pursuing alternative treatment. There are several credible alternative treatment options, however, these treatments are not covered by medical insurance and the expenses accumulate rapidly for such treatments.
After she stopped the chemo treatment, the doctors told her that they see an average timeline of patients in her condition living no more than 3 or 4 months off of chemo treatment. It is with a great urgency we write this and ask for any support which you could give. And we are so thankful for the amazing love and support which she has been shown already!
Marty's children are the ones who are writing this and asking for prayers and support for our mama.
We count it as one of God's richest blessings to be her children! Marty is an amazing wife, sister, daughter, mother, grandmother, and soon to be great grandmother! If you have had the honor of meeting her and spending time with her, then you know a little about the light and love which she brings to everyone around her. I hope that you have had the pleasure of spending time with her and being touched by her kindness and compassion. If you have had that pleasure, then, in honor of those memories, we ask for you to take some time to pray for Marty and this battle that she is facing. And please consider what you may be able to give to support her treatment and journey.
Thank you for reading this and for your prayers and support! May God bless you!
