I have a special friend named Maggie who I've known and played with since she was four years old.

Her parents and grandparents passed away years ago and she is now well cared for by her aunt.

Recently their apartment building was sold and the new landlord is raising their rent from $500 to $900 per month beginning in June. Her aunt receives a very low disability income amount each month and cannot afford this increase.

The new apartment manager said she could apply for Section 8 rental assistance but that there is a waiting list. I spoke to the Housing Authority and the process involves filling out the paperwork, collecting and submitting quite a bit of documentation, placement on a waiting list, apartment inspection & approval, acceptance form from landlord and finally acceptance into the program. The agent that I spoke to said it could take 5 to 6 months.

So this campaign is to raise $2000 to pay for the increase in rent over the next 5 months while Maggie's aunt goes through the application process.
