Help Prove The Good Guys Can Win

From Lisa:  From the time my son was born with multiple disabilities from a traumatic brain injury, he's been proving that strength and determination will prevail. Jake, my son, has  overcome autism, heart surgery, 6 eye surgeries, 4 ear surgeries, and years of visual therapy. But the other night our resolve was tested when someone stole our only car out of our driveway as we slept. This car meant so much to us because we'd saved for 3 years, going without a car, and  finally we were able to buy a used 1996 Subaru. The thieves who stole the car had no motive other than brazen, cruel destruction. They destroyed the car both interior and exterior; they stole his book bags, clothes, gym bag and, most sadly, the tassel from his high school graduation. That hurt him the most because he worked so hard to graduate.

This car enabled my son to attend CNM where he is studying to be a Wildland Firefighter, something he's wanted to be since he was a little boy. He was bullied mercilessly in school to the point where he was beaten with a bat by a group of high school vandals. YET Jake still believes in people and wants to be a Firefighter to help others.

We need to get him a car immediately otherwise he will lose financial aid if he fails or drops any of the 18 credit hours he is enrolled in. The Belen campus that offers the First Responders EMT classes which are required is over 45 minutes away from our house each way. There is no public transportation. If he doesn't have a car, he will have to drop out of school and there goes his dream of being a Firefighter. He idolizes Firefighters.

A replacement used car that is dependable, cheap on gas, and safe is going to run at least $2,800. So we are trying to raise these funds right away. If you want to donate a car that would be just as good.
