Help Protect Lake Mishnock from the Hydrilla Invasion

Lake Mishnock, a beloved natural treasure in West Greenwich, RI, is facing an urgent crisis.
Hydrilla has invaded Lake Mishnock and is threatening its water quality and biodiversity.
Hydrilla is often referred to as “one of the world’s worst aquatic invasive plants” which can cause irreversible damage to a lake's ecosystem.
Without immediate action, this fast-growing plant could cause irreversible damage to Lake Mishnock's ecosystem.
A HEADS UP:
PLEASE NOTE: (LMPA DOES NOT GET THE “Tip”AMOUNT, it stays with the Go Fund Me organization.)
If you choose to donate, be advised that a “tip” amount will appear below the donation amount. You can slide this to $0 or any other amount you desire, but LMPA does not get the tip, it goes to Go Fund Me. It shows the tip helping LMPA, but it does not.

*Hydrilla* grows rapidly, doubling its biomass every two weeks during summer. It forms dense mats that:
- Block sunlight, reducing water quality and promoting harmful algae blooms.
- Deplete oxygen levels, endangering fish like largemouth bass and yellow perch, and other aquatic species.
- Crowd out native plants and destroy habitats for aquatic wildlife.

Once established, *Hydrilla* is extremely difficult and costly to manage.

The Lake Mishnock Preservation Association (LMPA), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit founded in 2005, (an all volunteer organization), has worked tirelessly to protect the lake’s health and beauty. While we’ve successfully managed other invasive plants in the past, *Hydrilla* poses a far greater challenge. Treatment costs have tripled this due to the type of treatment needed for this agressive invasive.

Our target is to raise $25,000 to fund this year's treatment.
100 % of your tax deductible donation will be used to combat this infestation.

Lake Mishnock is more than just a lake—it’s a vital resource for our community:
- It provides clean drinking water for Kent County aquifer.
- It serves as a habitat for diverse wildlife.

Without intervention, *Hydrilla* will not only devastate Lake Mishnock but could spread to other lakes across Rhode Island through boat traffic and water flow.

Any amount you could donate will be helpful.

Your support will help us restore balance to the lake’s ecosystem and preserve its natural beauty for future generations. Please donate today and share this campaign with your friends and family. Together, we can protect Lake Mishnock from this devastating invasion.

Thank you for your generosity and commitment to safeguarding our environment!
