This Fall/Winter I am self-producing and choreographing a dance film series based on the classic movie, "It's a Wonderful Life". As a creative in NYC, I am dedicated to bringing forward stories rooted in community and deep joy.
Making work is expensive and requires many resources to fully produce. In order to create a cohesive piece and include the professional team required to make a quality work, we need donations to go towards production, space rentals, artist compensation, videographer pay, and more.
Join us as a producer in this work!
About the work:
Based on the classic film “It’s a Wonderful Life”, this dance film series follows George Bailey as he navigates the tension between the world’s definition of success and the meaningful relationships that give life its purpose. Through movement, we witness his dreams, sacrifices, struggles, and connections with family, friends, and community.
As George confronts the question of whether his life has truly amounted to anything, he is invited to see himself through a different lens—one that reveals the profound impact of his existence and the lives he has touched along the way. Through this journey, we are reminded that sometimes we are too close to our own stories to recognize the beauty, meaning, and connection woven throughout them.
In the end, what matters most? What does it mean to live a wonderful life?
Exploring themes of suicide, depression, and anxiety, this piece invites reflection on the complexities of mental health, the importance of human connection, and the power of hope. Resources will be provided at the conclusion of the series for viewers seeking additional support, with the intention of fostering compassion, encouraging open conversations, and reminding us that no one has to navigate these struggles alone.
