Hello!

This is a little on the long side, and I apologize for that, but here is my dilemma:

When my husband passed due to service-related illness, Agent Orange exposure resulting in aggressive cancer, I was left with a significant amount of various bills. This, compounded with the sudden decrease in income, forced me to rob Peter to pay Paul quite often. For over a year and a half, I managed to keep up with the bills, but this was not sustainable. My former budget, coupled with three-quarters of my income being taken away with my late husband, created a situation where I was advised by a professional to file Chapter 11 Bankruptcy.

I did not include our mortgage when I filed for Chapter 11, because I realistically have nowhere else to go. In thirteen years, we have never been late with our mortgage, but there was a lien against the home for a line of credit. The lender ceased sending statements after I had filed for Chapter 11, which led me to believe that the equity loan was included in the Bankruptcy. It was not, as some months later, I received a notice of delinquent payment in the mail.

After months of my attempts to contact the lender going unanswered, asking for assistance, and being promised solutions that never came to fruition, they finally just threatened to begin foreclosure. The amount due is $3,500, which is not something that I am able to come up with at this time. I am seventy-five years old, disabled, and barely make ends meet as it is. I have tried my best to work with the lender to no avail. The odds of me coming up with that amount of money, in such a short amount of time, is just as likely as me winning the lottery.
