Priscilla Gonzalez is a loving daughter, sister, cousin, niece, aunt, friend and mother. As a single mom, Priscilla balanced working full-time as an Emergency Room PCA (Patient Care Assistant) at St. Mary’s Hospital and going to nursing school full time, while still taking care of her daughter. Priscilla’s hard work and dedication will pay off as she is expected to graduate in May as a Registered Nurse. Priscilla’s life however, came to a sudden crossroad in March 2019, when she went to see her primary doctor for symptoms that included severe stomach and back pain. After a series of tests and doctor’s visits, they discovered two masses in her liver. The biopsy results came back showing that Priscilla has a rare and aggressive form of Stage 4 Cholangiocarcinoma (Bile Duct Cancer inside of the Liver).
Cholangiocarcinoma is a group of cancers that develops in the Bile ducts. Bile ducts are branched tubes that connect the liver and gallbladder to the small intestine. They carry bile, which is a fluid that helps the body digest the fats in food. Unfortunately, Cholangiocarcinoma is a rare but aggressive form of cancer and is usually not diagnosed until it has already spread beyond the bile ducts to other tissues. In Priscilla’s case, it has spread to her Lymph Nodes too.
Due to the excruciating pain that she has been experiencing and the battle ahead with beginning chemotherapy, Priscilla will be unable to work. All expenses raised will go directly to Priscilla to help alleviate some of the financial burdens to come. The road ahead isn’t going to be easy but we know the type of person Priscilla is – she’s a fighter and she’s strong and we know that she is going to fight this disease with everything that she has in her. As her family and friends, we are devastated. As a community, we have an incredible opportunity to support someone who has helped so many people. We can all band together to help Priscilla in her biggest time of need.
We created this GoFundMe page to help raise funds to support Priscilla’s fight. Any amount will be greatly appreciated. We encourage you to share this page to help spread the word.
Thank you to all those who took the time to read this! From our family to yours, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
