Callisophia's inaugural issue was released in 1993. The Callisophia Society, the first women's organization on the Elmira College campus, served as the inspiration for the magazine's name. The Society's mission was to provide women with an education in the sciences, including technical algebra, chemistry, and astronomy. Since its establishment, Callisophia has made an effort to support students’ academic goals, particularly through the lenses of feminism and gender studies. The magazine released its newest edition in September 2024, following a brief hiatus.

Now, we are seeking donations to be able to host more events for our campus and local community, as well as have the money to print our next issue!
