Help Princess Yue get back on her feet!

Donation protected
This fundraiser is for Princess Yue, a friendly husky living in Portland. She's my VA approved ESA, and the best dog friend I have ever had.

Yue has a degenerative condition in her back legs, and a ligament in her knee give out a few months ago. She has been on bed rest since!

She has been unbelievably patient and willing to be at rest during this time, but it is clearly getting to her.

She is an active, playful girl. She likes everyone and LOVES every dog. She is so good at getting dogs to play with her, no matter who young, old, big, or small, she can get just about any of them to play eventually.

She is so vital to me. Before her leg went wrong, she and I would walk together for 2-4 miles a day. We would walk all over our neighborhood, and crisscross Mt. Tabor park. That much walking with such an amazing dog has helped me lose weight, lower my blood pressure, and has helped my mental health. When the VA approved me to get an ESA, I could not have asked for a better friend than Yue.

She is such a pleasure to walk with, run with, and play with. Seeing the joy she experiences when she gets to run full out (or run WITH people!) is a day brightening experience.

The vets have told us that she is a good candidate to make a full recovery and regain all use of the leg. They have a traveling specialist who comes in to do these operations and they have a solid track record of success.

The surgery to make that possible will cost $3,000.

There is also a high probability that she will need to have the other leg operated on within the next couple of years, but right now we are hoping that doesn't happen and focusing on today.

I have spent most of the last year unemployed while going to school. I had two different jobs just dry up on me as the service industry in Portland has been struggling to stay afloat.

Thanks to the VA, I am able to maintain housing, and take care of Yue's day to day needs, but I am not flush with money, and $3000 is more than I can manage on my own.

Share this around, and if you've already met her please tell people how amazing she is!

Please, help us get her back on her feet, and back out making new friends!

Thank you,
Neil Cairns

UPDATE: The surgery will be tomorrow, February 3rd! Thank you everyone for your help!

If you need more giant dog snuggles, come visit her soon. She has 3 months of bedrest coming up, and I am sure she would appreciate some variety in her life while she can’t get out walking.
