Hi everyone — this is Princess Poppy

Poppy is an incredibly sweet, gentle puppy who came into our lives far too briefly before we learned just how fragile her start in life has been. She is calm, thoughtful, affectionate, and trusting — the kind of puppy who melts into your arms and quietly follows you from room to room.

At just 11 weeks old, Poppy was diagnosed with multiple congenital medical conditions, something that is both rare and deeply unfair for such a young puppy. These conditions were present from birth and were not caused by anything preventable — simply a heartbreaking roll of the genetic dice.

Because her diagnoses were made so early in life, pet insurance is not an option for her. Most people don’t realize that once a congenital condition is documented — even in a very young puppy — it becomes permanently excluded from coverage. Insurance that could have helped with future care is unfortunately unavailable to Poppy due to how early and severe her findings are.

Poppy’s medical needs will include:

-Ongoing specialty cardiology care

-Advanced imaging and diagnostics

-Regular bloodwork and monitoring

-Long-term management to keep her comfortable and thriving

Despite all of this, Poppy doesn’t know she’s “different.” She plays gently, cuddles deeply, and greets each day with quiet joy. Our greatest hope is to give her the best possible chance at a long, happy life, free from unnecessary discomfort or limitation.

Specialty veterinary care adds up quickly — even for families who plan carefully — and we want to ensure that every decision for Poppy is based on what’s best for her, not what’s most affordable.

While some puppies are born with mild heart murmurs that resolve on their own, Poppy’s case is different. She was diagnosed very young with multiple congenital heart abnormalities that require ongoing specialty care — a situation that is uncommon even among congenital cases.
