Help lay princess Luka to rest

Donation protected

hi there my name is ashleigh and for the ones that don’t know, on Monday the 31st of May 2021, my sister (18) went into labour with her first baby girl. For medical reasons Princess Luka was born stillborn..

Heres a little story about Luka..

From 20 weeks onwards my sister her partner myself and family got heartbreaking news that Luka would be born with hypoplastic left heart syndrome and intact atrial septum with obstructive pulmonary venous return and only have a 10 to 20% chance of surviving.

HLHS is a birth defect that effects normal blood flow through the heart and as the baby develops during pregnancy, the left side of the heart does not form correctly. Hypoplastic left heart syndrome is one type of congenital heart defect.

Intact atrial septum. In the normal heart before birth, the left sided structures fill primarily from the right atrium via the foramen oval, ie; intact atrial septum flow is diverted away from the left atrium and left ventricle.

From the day we found out about Luka’s diagnosis it has been really stressful for Bella, Jacob and us (family).

We have struggled financially with accommodation as Bella and Jacob had to move closer to Westmead children’s hospital Sydney for close monitoring.

We never wanted to believe Luka’s diagnosis and always thought positive about everything.

on the 31st of may 2021 Bella and Jacob made there way into the hospital as there little girl was ready to make her entrance into this world at 37 weeks. She made it to 4cm dilated and did not dilate any further, they broke her waters to bring on the stronger contractions that she could not feel. Bella became very ill..

The midwifes had to run tests and to check on baby Luka to see what was going on and got told the most heart renching most difficult news that baby Luka no longer has a heartbeat. Bella was in shock, could not move or even talk. She got rushed into an emergency C-section to welcome baby Luka into the world at 8:25pm and was born sleeping.

Things then took a massive turn.

they found bleeding inside somewhere where they shouldn’t have. They had to do another operation but this time they had to cut downwards where the had found something very rare. That the placenta detached from the uterus wall too early and behind found spots of endometriosis. They said that they have never heard of something like this happening before.

Bella then lost a lot of blood.

needing blood transfusions.

Her heart rate and blood pressure went right up.

Bella ended up in ICU over night being closely monitored.

I wanted to take the stress and responsibilities of my sister and her partner to organise a very special and beautiful funeral for baby Luka.

We want it to be very special for Bella and her partner and what they want for there baby girl.

They would like to get a beautiful pink coffin for there princess to lay to rest.

They want to make a special memorial spot for her and by that they would like to put her close to the water (at the crematorium) with a beautiful little fence, pictures and much more.

We want to be able to buy over 100 balloons to let go into the sky as a stairwell to heaven.

We don’t want to ask for much but all we want is to help my gorgeous little sister and her partner lay there baby girl to rest

If anyone has any questions and/or would like to attend her funeral, please either contact myself or my mum.

Thankyou

Fly high princess Luka

Gone but never forgotten.

A moment in our arms, forever in our hearts

Until we meet again
