Support Prince Ever After: His Ongoing Care.

I've had the privilege of being the primary caregiver for a remarkable cat named Prince since 2021. Prince, who is also known as Natty Boh, found his way into my life after his previous owners could no longer provide the most optimal space. Originally adopted in Alabama in 2013, he journeyed with them to Oregon, where he lived a peaceful life in a nestled community, safe from the chaos of busy traffic and city noise.

Prince quickly became an integral part of our family. He brought a mutually loving energy that was felt by everyone around him. When he arrived in our lives, it was clear he was special. His morning routine of waking us up with head bumps and cuddles, his chatty nature, and his keen sense of when to take space by the window to watch the trees, all endeared him to us. He even developed an interest in watching nature documentaries on TV, something unexpected but thoroughly enjoyed.

In January 2024, during a routine vaccination appointment, Prince was the picture of health. He was active, exercised regularly, and had a healthy diet. However, just a few months later, in April 2024, he developed Feline Injection-Site Sarcoma (FISS), a malignant tumor that appeared at the site of a previous injection. The news of this diagnosis was shocking, as it was unexpected that vaccinations could lead to such a condition.

Despite the shock, quick action was taken. Surgery was scheduled and successfully performed in April 2024, with the tumor caught early and removed. Following the surgery, Prince transitioned to being an indoor cat, allowing for close monitoring and ensuring his safety from any external harm.

The journey didn't end there. His vet strongly advised pursuing radiation treatment to prevent the tumor from recurring. Weeks off from work were taken to help Prince adjust and recover while planning for the necessary treatment. So far, around $3,200 has been spent on surgery and treatments. Fortunately, the vaccine companies have agreed to cover up to $5,000 of the costs, but that coverage is nearing its end with the next appointment at Washington State University (WSU) in Pullman, WA.

This trip to Pullman, a seven-hour drive from home in Oregon, will involve a series of tests, including CT scans, biopsies, chest x-rays, and abdominal ultrasounds, costing between $1,500 and $2,300. The radiation treatment, which involves 18 sessions over 4 weeks, is estimated to cost around $7,000. During this time, lodging and other associated costs will add to the financial burden.

If any extra funds are received beyond what is needed, they will be allocated to others facing similar challenges. FISS fibrosarcoma is a rare occurrence in cats, affecting about 1 in 10,000, and so much has been learned through this experience about the importance of awareness and support.

Prince is not just a pet; he is a cherished member of the family. His playful antics bring laughter into the home, lifting spirits even on the toughest days. When he curls up on a lap and purrs, the warmth and affection he provides create an unparalleled sense of comfort and peace. He inspires curiosity and wonder, often leading on little adventures as he explores his surroundings with endless fascination.

Beyond the joy he brings, Prince has also made those around him better. His unwavering companionship has taught patience, empathy, and unconditional love. Caring for him has strengthened a sense of responsibility and compassion, qualities that extend to interactions with others.

Growing up, there was the pain of living in a household where cats were not properly cared for, leaving a lasting impact. Taking care of Prince has been incredibly important, allowing for the provision of the love and attention always wished for pets in the past.

In many ways, Prince has become a confidant and best friend, always there to provide comfort and companionship. His struggle with FISS has been incredibly challenging for both of us, and securing support for his care means everything. It would allow us to give back to him the care and support he has given so selflessly, ensuring he can continue to enrich our lives with his unique and irreplaceable presence.

This journey with Prince has taught so much about resilience, love, and the profound connection between humans and their pets. Every effort will continue to be made to ensure that Prince receives the best care possible, and we are grateful for the support and kindness of those who have helped us along the way.

As of August 2024, Prince completed his final radiation treatments, marking the end of an intensive journey toward recovery. Now, the "Prince Ever After" fund is focused on addressing the substantial debt from his surgery, specialized scans, and the extensive radiation therapy that has given him this second chance. The costs have added up quickly, even with the partial support from vaccine companies, and every contribution now will help ease this financial burden while preparing for any future follow-up appointments or treatments Prince may need to stay healthy.

Your support ensures that Prince’s well-being remains secure as he moves forward from this chapter. Each donation honors his resilience and the unwavering companionship he has provided, giving back to him the love and stability he deserves. Thank you for being part of Prince's journey to a thriving future.

New Update for November 2025: A Concerning Bump and the Next Phase of Care.

Recently, I discovered a small firm bump at the very top of Prince’s original surgical site, right where the incision had been folded during closure in 2024. After weeks of monitoring, we went in for a needle aspirate. The early results are reassuring and do not appear to show cancer, but the veterinarians do recommend further testing along with the removal of the bump so it can be fully biopsied. This is the safest next step and the best way to prevent future complications.

These medical needs come at a time when I am still carrying a significant amount of debt from Prince’s surgery and radiation journey last year. The remaining balance from that chapter is a little over $6,500. The newly estimated costs for bloodwork, testing, and a minor surgical excision are projected to reach about $2,500. Together, these amounts make up the remaining portion of the total goal of $11,111. This goal reflects both the outstanding balance from last year and the anticipated costs of this new round of care.

Even with the financial weight of everything that has happened, providing Prince with the medical support he needs has never been in question. He has shown incredible resilience through every stage of this journey, and I want to continue giving him the best chance at a long and healthy life.

❤️ How You Can Help

Any contribution you are able to offer during this phase means more than I can say. Every dollar goes directly toward the essential expenses ahead, including follow-up testing and lab work, the removal and biopsy of the new bump, ongoing monitoring, and the remaining medical debt from his cancer treatments.

Prince has brought so much comfort, warmth, and joy into our home and into the lives of so many others. Your kindness helps ensure that he can continue living a stable, healthy, and love-filled life. Thank you for being a part of Prince’s story, his healing, and his future. Your support truly makes a difference.
