Help prince fight Alabama Rot

Donation protected
I am raising money for my friends Lucy and John. Unfortunately after walking their dogs in errington woods (new Marske), both of their dogs have contracted Alabama rot.

Alabama rot is a deadly illness which starts with skin lesions, progresses to sickness and ends in organ failure. There is an 80-90% death rate and little is known about this still very rare disease.

Unfortunately, despite the very best efforts from both Lucy and John, the vets and a specialist, Dotty passed away today. Prince is still fighting in the hands of the excellent vets at a specialist referrals hospital and is beginning to show signs of improval after a huge fight- although he is still not out of the woods yet.

Although insurance has covered most of the vets fees, the limit has been reached and currently the fees are around £3000 more than the insurance limit and are mounting every day.

Lucy and John have been in touch with Fiona McDonald BVMS MRCVS, a vet scientists currently doing studies on Alabama Rot after reading an article she wrote in the Metro online and blood samples have been taken from both dogs to help in gaining a better understanding of the disease to prevent this happening to other dogs in the future, any extra money raised would be donated to the charity stopalabamarot to further studies of this kind in an attempt to understand better and stop other dogs contracted this awful disease.

I know many of you have pets of your own and you will understand that they’re not just animals. They’re part of your family. Let’s put a stop to Alabama Rot.
