Help Prim Hair Studio and Chrystal Star's Team
Hi all,
I’ve created this GoFundMe page for Chrystal Star and the Prim Hair Studio team. On Monday (5/17), Chrystal arrived at her hair studio to find it completely flooded and water poured out from the front door! As you can imagine, for a small business owner, this is devastating. She’s found out that insurance won’t cover a vast majority of the repairs that need to be made for her space to be operational again.
For those who don’t know Chrystal well, she is a Monterey Area native and active within the community. Many of you may know her from high school, where she was on student council and the captain of the soccer team.
If you met her later in life, you may know her from when she lived and worked in LA. While in LA she got involved in some Philanthropy.
Currently, many of us know Chrystal through her business or for her philanthropic work with the Leukemia Lymphoma Society, Kinship Center, and Meals on Wheels. I met Chrystal through LLS and the Man and Woman of the Year campaign.
Chrystal moved back to Monterey in 2013 and got involved with LLS because of a dear friend, Nancy Scheid. Chrystal was a Woman of the Year candidate in 2018 and won the title of Woman of the Year. She ran her campaign in honor of her dad, whom she later lost to cancer. She continues to be involved in community initiatives and contributes her time and commitment to helping our community.
As her clients know, Chrystal has endured this pandemic by being nimble and resourceful. She’s worked from 3 different locations and mid-pandemic moved her entire studio from her upstairs location to her current ground floor location where she went from 500 sf to 1100sf. She transformed the space into a full-service salon with 4 hair stations, 2 treatment rooms, and 6 team members. Prim Hair Studio wouldn’t be able to successfully run without the supportive team Chrystal has! Also her newest addition Esthetics by Cheryl. She’s put a lot of her own money into tenant improvements and staying compliant with the ever-changing coronavirus regulations (over $20,000). She’s worked tirelessly to keep us looking good and feeling good! If anyone knows her as I do, Chrystal is the first to say (l'll help, what do you need?) and now she needs our help.
This unforeseen situation is financially unsustainable. We estimate that the cost of the salon repairs will be upwards of $30,000. This also includes money to help Chrystal and her team members through this hardship. If she can’t overcome this obstacle, she may have to relocate and downsize.
Let’s help her as she’s helped us! As clients, friends, colleagues, and fellow small business owners, if you can’t contribute to help Chrystal and her staff, please share this post with others.
Thank you!
