Pretzel is my beloved pet, and he recently went through a terrifying ordeal that has left us both emotionally and financially overwhelmed. Within just one week, Pretzel had to undergo two emergency surgeries. It all started when he ate an unknown object—most likely a toy—that caused a blockage in his stomach and intestines. The first surgery was performed at the Veterinary Emergency Clinic in Waterford Lakes to remove the foreign object. Unfortunately, just four days later, Pretzel developed a high fever and began leaking fluid from his sutures. When I brought him back to the clinic, they were going to send us home without even checking him, but after we begged them to please check him, they performed an X-ray. They still insisted his symptoms were normal and sent us home. The next day, Pretzel started bleeding from his sutures, and one of them opened up completely. It was clear something was very wrong, and he needed a second emergency surgery due to all his sutures opening up, including the incisions in his intestines.

This experience has been incredibly stressful, and the medical bills have quickly become overwhelming. I am a full-time college student with a part-time job, and this debt is emotionally and financially devastating for me. I have evidence of all the invoices, and I had to put the costs on CareCredit and Cherry just to make sure Pretzel got the care he needed. Now, we are doing everything we can to help him recover, including providing him with special post-op foods that are much more expensive than regular food. We are also trying to keep up with all his post-op check-ups, blood draws, and other necessary tests, but these extra costs are adding up fast.
