Hello, my name is Krista, and I truly appreciate you taking a moment to read our family's story. My great-niece, Presley Seagroves, and her Mommy (Hunter) and Daddy (Taylor) have been blindsided by the recent medical events impacting their lives. This is their story....
On Wednesday (4/2/25), sweet 22-month-old Presley was rushed to Hemby Children’s Hospital with dangerously high blood sugar, over 600, and was quickly diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes after entering a critical condition called Diabetic Ketoacidosis (DKA). In just a few days, Presley has endured more than most toddlers ever should: multiple rounds of bloodwork, continuous glucose checks, IVs, and hospital stays. Through it all, she has shown unbelievable bravery, strength, and resilience. SHE IS OUR LITTLE ROCK STAR!
Type 1 Diabetes is an autoimmune disease, not caused by diet or lifestyle. It’s very different from Type 2. Her pancreas no longer produces insulin, which means she’ll require insulin injections and around-the-clock care for the rest of her life to survive and thrive. This diagnosis is life-altering for Presley and her family. Hunter and Taylor are facing an intense and immediate learning curve, countless medical appointments, and a huge financial burden, including: hospital bills, prescriptions, glucose monitors, insulin supplies, and lifelong specialty care.
To give Sweet P the care she needs, Hunter (Mommy) will be stepping away from work as a teacher, which means their household will temporarily be down to a single income. If you feel led to help ease the financial strain and bless this sweet little family as they adjust to their new normal, any donation—large or small—would be deeply appreciated. Every dollar goes directly toward Presley’s care, medical needs, and support during this transition.
Our goal to help ease their burden right now is $10,000.
This should help cover:
- Hospital ER and ICU bills (DKA treatment is intensive)
- Ongoing endocrinology appointments and labs
- Glucose monitor and sensor systems (CGMs like Dexcom or Libre)
- Insulin, pens, emergency supplies, low treatment snacks
- Prescription copays and out-of-pocket max
- Toddler-specific gear (like backpack kits, medical alert items, travel supplies)
- Reduced household income (loss of an entire income)
Above all, we ask for your prayers—for Presley’s protection, for peace over her parents, and for strength in the days ahead for our family.
Thank you for loving this sweet little family through such a challenging time.
