Help Preserve the Mayville Public Library

Donation protected
We have a great asset and historical library building
that is in need of some repair work to keep it in good
shape. Some tuck pointing work is needed with an
estimated cost of $57,240.
A Cultural Heritage Grant request by the Mayville
Public Library has been made to the North Dakota
Historical Society for about half of this cost.
This may seem like a large amount of money for an old
Historical Building, but it is well worth the investment
for the Mayville community. The library building was
built in 1900 by a number of local individuals and
businessmen. It was headed up by the donation of

E.B. and J.L. Grandin for construction of the building.
It was the first public library built in North Dakota.
This showed great foresight of the individuals involved
as the library building has served the Mayville
community in many wonderful ways for more than 100
years. With some TLC efforts over the years as needed,
the building may continue to serve the community for
many years in to the future.
Mayville and Traill County residents are a generous
people with great foresight, just like the Grandin
brothers of years ago. Now is your opportunity to help
repair and restore the building to the best condition.
