Hi everyone! We have a beautiful event taking place and are asking for support on behalf of the Serum Run Expedition Team. This is such an incredible story that started nearly 100 years ago in a small village in AK. The 1925 serum run to Nome, also known as the Great Race of Mercy and The Serum Run, was a transport of diphtheria antitoxin by dog sled relay across the US territory of Alaska by 20 mushers and about 150 sled dogs across 674 miles (1,085 km) in 5+1⁄2 days, saving the small town of Nome and the surrounding communities from a developing epidemic of diphtheria.
The Poland Spring Seppalas Kennel team has travelled 3500 miles from Northern Maine all the way to Nome AK by truck and trailer transporting 16 Purebred Seppala Sleddogs! Today they will embark on a multi-week adventure mushing nearly 700 miles to honor the 100 year anniversary of the original Serum Run to help raise preservation awareness for these amazing hero's.
We've had many wonderful sponsors step up and generously offer support but we need to ask for ANY help you can offer. No amount is too small to help get this all done. As with ANY expedition it takes a village and we truly appreciate every SINGLE donation as it will help ensure the safe return of humans and dogs in mid February.
We invite you to be a part of this incredible adventure and journey and donate to this awesome cause. We are grateful for those sharing in this lifelong dream of ours and being a part of something greater.
