Help Preserve the Historic Bruckmann Brewery in Cincinnati!
Organized by the Brewery District Community Urban Redevelopment Corporation
Deep beneath the streets of Cincinnati lies a forgotten piece of our city’s legendary brewing history—and we’re bringing it back to life. Built in 1856, the Bruckmann Brewery stood as a cornerstone of Cincinnati’s beer legacy. It’s one of the few historic breweries that survived Prohibition by producing “near beer” and other legal beverages, allowing it to reopen for full beer production the moment Prohibition ended in 1933. Now, nearly a century later, the Brewery District Community Urban Redevelopment Corporation is leading the charge to preserve this historic treasure—and we need your help.
What We're Doing:
We’re preserving the brewing cellars and underground tunnels beneath the old Bruckmann Brewery so they can be opened for public tours this summer!
Your donation will go directly toward:
• Rebuilding the collapsed roof over the tunnel entrance
• Reconstructing the rusted-out stairwell into the tunnels
• Fixing flooding and water damage issues in the cellars
• Supporting historical research and preservation planning
• Covering materials and skilled labor costs
We’ve already cleared out years of trash and debris from the property and tunnels—but we need $10,000 to finish this phase of the restoration and make the site safe, secure, and open for visitors.
Why It Matters:
Cincinnati was once one of America’s beer capitals, and the Bruckmann Brewery is a rare survivor of that golden era. Restoring this site means:
• Preserving a vital piece of our city’s brewing heritage
• Creating educational and tourism opportunities
• Revitalizing a neighborhood and inspiring community pride
• Ensuring this history is protected for future generations
