I am asking for support to cover the printing cost of the book Entre el Recuerdo y la Memoria: Historias de Patamban. This book contains oral and local histories recollected by middle school students in the Indigenous P’urhépecha community of Patamban, Michoacán, México. The book was first published in Spanish in 2017 and now has arrived as a new edition with translations into P’urhépecha and English. Your support will allow me to pay for the cost of 500 copies of the book and give back the histories in a book format to the elders, families, and students who participated in this project and spread the book among the public schools in Patamban and among locals from Patamban who live in the United States. The book will also function as a didactic resource of local history and the teaching of multiple languages, particularly the P’urhépecha language, which is almost extinct in the pueblo.
