A Legacy Cut Short: Honoring the Life and Dream of Patrick LaFortune Jr.
On July 14, 2025, our hearts were shattered. We lost a father, a son, a brother, a visionary, and a cornerstone of our community, Patrick LaFortune Jr., to a tragic and preventable motorcycle accident.
Patrick was only 32 years old, but he lived with the spirit and drive of someone twice his age. A proud father of two beautiful boys, Baby Patrick and Amir, Patrick dedicated his life to building a legacy not just for his own family, but for the city of Albany and its people.
The Builder of Dreams
Patrick was the founder and CEO of LaFortune & Family Construction LLC, a company he built from the ground up with sweat, skill, and soul. His mission was never just about construction; it was about creating opportunity. He hired from within his own community, mentored young men looking for a second chance, and dreamed of restoring neglected properties to build generational wealth for families like his own.
Patrick didn’t wait for change. He became the change.
A Father First
To his sons, Patrick was more than a provider he was their hero. He was hands-on, loving, present, and determined to give them a life better than his own. Every property he invested in, every early morning he rose to work, and every dollar he saved was for them.
He often said, "I’m not just building houses; I’m building a future for my boys." And he meant it.
A Preventable Loss
On the night he was taken from us, Patrick was simply riding his motorcycle home, wearing his helmet, driving responsibly. But another man, Jacob Snide, with a long record of prior arrests and a recent impaired driving charge, was still behind the wheel.
This tragedy could and should have been prevented. Patrick deserved better. His children deserve better. We are now left not only mourning his loss but also fighting to protect everything he worked so hard to build.
Why We’re Raising to Save His Legacy
After Patrick’s sudden death, the properties he secured for his children the very foundation of the legacy he built are now at risk of being taken. The bank is forcing the sale of these homes unless we can raise the funds needed to save them.
We are asking for your help. Every dollar raised will go directly to:
• Preserving Patrick’s estate and real estate properties
• Setting up trust funds for his sons, Baby Patrick and Amir
• Covering legal and administrative fees for the estate
• Continuing the community work Patrick started through LaFortune & Family Construction
This is not just about saving buildings. It’s about saving a legacy, a dream, and a future for two little boys who lost their father far too soon.
