Thank you for making a small $5.00 gift and support the expert conservation teams save endangered species and help me encourage my generation to treat the planet with greater respect than those that have preceded us and to adopt more sustainable ways of living.
I am a 7th grade student in Alaska. As part of my community service project, I would like to raise money and awareness to support Indonesia Komodo survival program through the Nashville zoo conservation program. They have the largest Komodo habitat in the U.S. and donate directly to the KSP
Why would someone from a state with zero reptiles in a country with no Komodo dragons in the wild want to support this program?
1. KOMODO DRAGONS ARE NOW ENDANGERED: Since 2021, these prehistoric animals are classified as endangered and face extinction within the next 20 years.
2. Species conservation is more than rescuing animals — it is about preserving ecosystems that not only affect animal populations but humans as well. Every living creature on Earth feels the chain reaction of extinction.
3. Komodos have extremely unique adaptations that are being studied to help human and non-human animals. Dragon blood is filled with antimicrobial peptides unlike any others and may one day help protect us from drug-resistant illnesses.
4. I would like to visit Komodo Island someday and hope I can help preserve wild places and animals so kids in 100 years can also experience them.
