Help Prescott Landscaping After Devastating Fire
Donation protected
Hello everyone, thank you for taking the time to read this. My sisters and I are starting this GoFundMe to raise funds to help our dad Bob Prescott replace the equipment he needs to run his landscaping business that was destroyed in a devastating fire.
My dad started his business when he was in high school and he began to mow lawns for people. This experience made him realize his passion for working outside, helping people, and working for himself. He grew Prescott Landscaping from the ground up and has used this business to support his family and community. Working for himself and working hard is all he has ever known. Growing up he was constantly working hard for late hours (often seven days a week) in order to support his family. He is the hardest working person I know.
The destruction of the shop he works in along with most of his equipment, tools, mowers, vehicles and means to continue his business is devastating. Most of his life's work was burned to the ground and we would love to help him get back on his feet.
This business is not just a business to my dad, it is a means to help his family and community. He goes above and beyond to take care of three cemeteries in the area. When possible he finishes burials in harsh winter conditions so that families do not have to go through the pain of burying their loved ones months later when conditions are better. Growing up when families would go on vacation for Memorial Day we never did because my dad wanted to make sure that the cemeteries were perfect for families honoring their lost loved ones. He donated his services and equipment to assist with the installation of the youth soccer fields at Wilde Road in Shirley. During a winter storm where emergency vehicles were having trouble reaching a member of the community who needed medical attention he prioritized keeping their driveway clear to ensure that emergency services could get to them. During a hurricane when a tree went down on a building he went up on the roof, removed the tree and patched the roof until repairs could be done after the storm. When a neighbor experienced a house fire themselves my dad helped with the demolition for little to no cost. During a snow day one year he saw a little boy shoveling out his driveway by hand and he pulled over, plowed the driveway and continued on his day. He has even installed a roof and lawn free of charge to someone who could not otherwise do so.
While on a landscaping job for a family with my sister tagging along, my dad met the family dog named Riley. Months later the family called my dad to let him know that Riley had passed away and they needed help burying her. My dad immediately loaded up his equipment, went to their home and dug the grave for Riley free of charge- the thank you note from this family is still hanging on his cork board behind his desk.
These are just a few of many acts of community service that my dad has used Prescott Landscaping to complete. Without his business there are many members of the community who would have had to endure more hardship. Prescott Landscaping is a pillar of the community and truly exhibits what it looks like to take care of people. Businesses like this are few and far between, and to let this terrible accident destroy something that has helped so many would be a tragedy.
Any contribution helps. My dad has worked so hard his whole life and it would mean the world to us to get him back out there making your homes feel a little more like home.
