Support Symphony Pro Musica’s Commission of Afghan Composer Arson Fahim’s New Work

This year, we are honored to commission Arson Fahim for a piece that celebrates what he admires most about the United States—its enduring spirit to demand and create change. Inspired by the many movements, sacrifices, and determination of the American people, both past and present, Arson’s music promises to be a moving tribute to our collective journey.

Arson’s story is beyond inspiring. Arson is a pianist, composer and conductor from Afghanistan. He was born in the year 2000 as a refugee in Pakistan where his family had fled due to the war in Afghanistan. In 2012, he started taking piano lessons and a few months later, he received admission at Afghanistan’s only music school, the Afghanistan National Institute of Music where he also composed and arranged music and eventually became the conductor of the Afghan National Youth Orchestra and the Afghan National Symphony Orchestra. In 2021, only two weeks before the Taliban took control and once again banned music, Arson arrived in the US and started his studies.

We are seeking $15,000 to cover the costs of commissioning this composition and presenting its premiere performance. Your support will help us give voice to stories of hope, resilience, and transformation, as seen through the eyes of an artist whose own experiences reflect the power of community and perseverance.
