Hello! We are fundraising for newborn Gianna Grace and her Mommy, Ashley, and Daddy, Jami. After an arduous battle with Covid-19 in mid 2020, Ashley and Jamison decided it was time to embrace life. They got engaged and moved to Jami's hometown of Erie, Pa.
It was a tumultuous year of illness, uprooting and adjustments. The two finally settled in to their first home together and began to plan their wedding. At a routine appointment, Ashley learned she was pregnant. The news was surprising as she had been told this might not be possible for her. Her pregnancy progressed and Ashley's health was up and down but the baby was growing just fine.
On Feb 8th, a unique pain began and Ashley headed to AHN Saint Vincent's ER across from her work at AHN Cancer Institute. In a whirlwind of a preeclampsia diagnosis and a Lifeflight to AHN West Penn, Gianna Grace was born by emergency C-section at 23 weeks gestation. She weighed 1lb 3 oz and measured 12" long. Fortunately, her lungs are fully developed and her tiny heart & brain are doing their job! She is a tiny warrior, arriving in this world with ambition and fortitude. There is a long road to discharge ahead, but the family is taking it day by day with grateful hearts.
As a coworker and friend, I have seen first hand the kind selflessness and care that goes in to Ashley's everyday life. Her humor and laughter bring light to every space, even with patients who are facing the daily battle with cancer. We are fundraising to help in anyway the family needs, from travel expenses to baby wares and medical expenses. Only beginning to put together a life for Gianna, they are in need of almost everything. From the bottom of our hearts, we are grateful for any and all help!
