"My name is Praise Frank, a writer based in the South South of Nigeria along the Niger Delta area and earlier this year, an internet outage and router issues cut off my main source of income and set off a chain of events I couldn't have predicted. I put out a call for support in February but the situation spiraled and I lost my apartment, was forced to move into a cheaper place in a neighborhood now caught in the rising wave of violence and insurgency sweeping across the region. I had to use the money I had raised from the support I got from the community on Medium to get the cheapest place I could possibly get in order to prevent a situation where I end up on the streets but because of the nature of the violence in this area, having access to internet has been very difficult and I've been doing the best I can, taking on menial jobs, reaching out, praying and trying all I can to stay afflaot but with everyday that passes I'm even sure if I will see the next day or not. I never thought that this year would turn out like this for me. I have pending writing projects I cannot fulfill, rent I cannot pay, and a living situation that grows more dangerous by the day. The total amount I need to get my old place back is right around $1100 nothing more or less, as far as I'm able to get back to safety, I can get back on my feet and also see to my health as it has been deteriorating over the last few weeks. It is not an amount I can raise on my own seeing as my means are very limited. My birthday passed by on the 7th of this month and I didn't think that at any point in 2026 I would be experiencing robbery or that I would be holed up in an apartment that I can't even furnish properly to protect myself, if you're reading this, I will need all the help I can get, any amount you can give means everything and could literally be the difference between me making it out of here or never making it out.'"
